3 Nights, 4 Days | Appalachian Trail Backpacking Trip
Max Patch to Hot Springs, NC
This is a backpacking trip designed to slow you down in the best way.
We’ll start on the open, grassy summit of Max Patch, where you get those big, sweeping 360° mountain views that instantly make you breathe a little deeper. From there, we’ll hike point to point along the Appalachian Trail into Hot Springs, keeping things intentionally mellow with no day over 6 miles.
This isn’t about crushing miles, it’s about actually enjoying being out there - one of my very favorite places in the world so why rush it. :)
We’ll move at a relaxed pace, take breaks when we want to, drink good coffee in the mornings, and have time to notice the little things, which in my opinion end up being the big things. Along the way, I’ll guide you through the basics of backpacking so whether it’s your first overnight or you’re just looking to feel more confident out there, you’ll leave with skills you can actually use.
Expect a mix of ridgeline hiking, quiet forest sections, and those moments where everything just feels simple. Evenings are for settling into camp, eating something warm, and unwinding without anywhere else to be.
On the final day, we’ll hike straight into Hot Springs, where the trail literally runs through town, and finish the trip with a soak in the natural mineral hot springs along the French Broad River. It’s kind of the perfect ending.
After that, we’ll shuttle back, clean, relaxed, and probably already missing trail life a little.
